The Keller Lumber Story

Started over a fair price for logs. Still family-run today.

Nearly 50 years ago, one logger's frustration with the only sawmill in town turned into the company we are now. The size has changed. The family feel hasn't.

How It Started

A logger, a sawmill, and a disagreement over price.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Mr. Keller — then a working logger — grew dissatisfied with the log prices he was getting from Mead Hardwoods, the only sawmill in town at the time. After a series of conversations with Mead's leadership about fair pricing, he made a decision: he bought the land our mill now stands on and started running his own monthly log sales.

From there, the operation grew steadily — from a log yard, to a small circle mill, to the mill we run today, shipping several trailer loads of wood product every day.

What We Still Make

A small, family-owned company, at real scale.

Growth hasn't changed what we are at the core: a small, family-owned business with a family feel and mentality, in how we treat our employees, our customers, and our business partners.

Product

Green Appalachian Hardwood

Our main product line is green Appalachian hardwood — particularly red and white oak, walnut, poplar, cherry, and ash.

Also In Stock

Dimensional Pine

Alongside our hardwood, we keep a broad selection of dimensional pine on hand for a range of building needs.

Custom Work

Live-Edge Pieces

Custom hardwood pieces — live-edge walnut, cherry, and maple — cut for customers who need something specific.

I would rather make a friendship that lasts a lifetime than a business deal that is over in one day.
